National Heritage listing for the Queenscliff Headland

While Fort Queenscliff has a Commonwealth Heritage listing, the balance of the Queenscliff Headland does not. The coastal section of the Headland, from Shortland Bluff to the Pier, has a rich social, maritime and military history and deserves to be on the National Register. To rectify this oversight, an application was made in February 2017 to have the Reserve assessed for National Heritage listing under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). A copy of the submission is available by clicking the following link:

We are pleased to report that in May 2018, both the Hon Sarah Henderson, local Federal Member for Corangamite, and the Hon Lisa Neville, State Member for Bellarine, wrote to the Minister for the Environment and Energy in support of this application - the efforts of these two local members is greatly appreciated.

The slideshow below shows the various zones on the Queenscliff Headland which it is proposed would be combined into a new National Heritage listing.
